After fourteen years spent in the heart of the city of Nyon, the Art Gallery Junod is pursuing the adventure under a new name, - Art espace Junod -, and in a new place -, the Grange en Clarens -, located in the commune of Vich, a few minutes from Nyon. And it is Pierrette Gonseth-Favre right away conquered by the unique and original space, its generous proportions and light, who will inaugurate this new spot, with astonishing, inventive and engaging works.

With a strong imaginary and sensitiveness, Pierrette Gonseth-Favre is at the same time an artist with fairy fingers and a life story-teller, with deep words in agreement with an essential vision. Ceaselessly in quest of new experiments and sensations, consciously or not, she is plunging us with a series of works entitled TOTEMS, into a baffling and striking universe.

Strong, in full verticality, they stand there, solidly camped; but at the same time, there is a kind of moving fragility emanating from them…
Made of simple or thick jute, strapped with earth tinted colors, their height at human size disturbs, intimidates or eyes from hand to foot. Face to face, eyes into eyes, a strange and bowling moment installs itself. It is a shock, a helter-skelter of emotions, an interlacing of touches between the visible and the hidden, the expressed and the unsaid, the ancestral and the present time, the complex and the natural, the multiple and the reduced to essential. It is a way of life where one is crossing faces who are scrutinizing us in silence. They raise up perplexity, questioning, seduction, poetry, research of the primordial, of the sublime, but they also are accents of suffering and despair.

Certain totems are multi-faced and crowned with head-dresses in a form of fine and tangled roots, stretching into space, attracted by the light in an aerial game. In opposition some others are the game of earth, with root-head-dresses to which pieces of lava are fixed, attracting them towards the ground, or with light leaves, moved by the wind.

With these elements, the artist is telling us her passion and her knowledge of nature, for her a vital and accomplice source.
The unusual and mysterious world of Totems, rich with symbols, is no doubt connected to the origin of the word « totem », a mythical term, native from Amerindian tribes of North of America, and ancestor of the word « clan ». Sometimes it is expressed in the form of an animal-totem, venerated like a divinity or is attributed to every symbolic sculpture of these tribes, done on a trunk planted in the ground. The Totems of Pierrette Gonseth-Favre seem impregnated by these ancestral sources.

And with her innate sense of communication and of sharing, Pierrette Gonseth-Favre has also kept in her works, a part of dream, of childhood and a tearing rage of life. An unusual and mysterious work to discover !

The exhibition is enriched by an attractive folder, carried out by Genoud entreprise d’arts graphiques SA, with the reproduction of the totems created by Pierrette Gonseth-Favre and shown at the occasion of this event.
